Job summary

Dallas Independent School District is seeking a Bilingual Teacher Assistant for Pre-K to support certified teachers and enhance learning activities. The position requires a high school diploma or US equivalency, plus a paraprofessional certificate and at least one year of experience with children.

Qualifications

• Accredited Senior High School Diploma or equivalent (US equivalency) and one of the following: Associate degree, 48 college credit hours, or pass an academic assessment.
• Paraprofessional certificate required from State Board of Certification.
• One year of experience working with children.
• Demonstrated knowledge of child growth and development and behavior characteristics.
• Ability to work with people from diverse ethnic groups.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to achieve job goals.

Responsibilities

• Assist in intensified learning experiences for students in the Pre-K program.
• Relieve the certified teacher of non-instructional tasks.
• Tutor students individually or in small groups.
• Assist with daily work and homework activities.
• Review class activities and daily homework.
• Supervise class breakfast and lunch activities.
• Talk to parents to provide progress updates and discuss behavior.
• Distribute letters to parents regarding progress.
• Maintain student records, attendance, and files.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.
