Job summary

Dallas Independent School District is seeking a paraprofessional to assist in intensified learning experiences and relieve teachers of non-instructional tasks in assigned areas. You will tutor students individually or in small groups, support daily work, review activities, and help maintain classroom routines.

This campus-based position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a paraprofessional certificate, and at least one year of experience with children.

Qualifications

• Accredited Senior High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Paraprofessional certificate required.
• One year of experience working with children.
• Demonstrated knowledge of child growth and behavior.
• Ability to work with people from diverse ethnic groups.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting intensified learning experiences for students in assigned area and relieve certified teacher of various tasks that are non-instructional in nature.
• Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning activities.
• Maintain discipline in the absence of the teacher.
• Review class activities and daily homework.
• Supervise class breakfast and lunch activities.
• Talk to parents to provide updates on student progress and behavior.
• Distribute informative letters to parents regarding progress.
• Assist in filing and organizing materials for record retention and distribution.
• Assist in maintaining student records, attendance, and files.
• Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
• Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required.
