Temple University is seeking an Academic Advisor I to guide students pursuing medical and health-professional programs, including dental and PA tracks. You'll review ePortfolios, offer personal statement feedback, and conduct mock interviews to strengthen applications.
You will also design workshops, create engaging materials, and analyze data on placement outcomes to continuously improve services for students and alumni in a hybrid on-campus/remote arrangement.
Working under the guidance of the Director of Pre-Professional Health Advising (PPHA), the Advisor 1 provides comprehensive advising and high-level support to current students and alumni pursuing admission to medical and other health professional programs, including Dental, Pharmacy, Physician Assistant, Optometry, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Podiatry, and Veterinary Medicine. This role includes reviewing ePortfolio documents, offering personal statement feedback, conducting mock interviews, and scheduling Pre-Health Evaluation Committee interviews to strengthen students’ applications.
The Advisor 1 also develops, coordinates, and implements workshops and events for current and prospective students, creates engaging presentations, visuals, and social media content, and conducts data collection and analysis to assess placement rates and improve services. Additionally, the position supports onboarding of first-year students, guides them through professional school preparation, reviews academic timelines, communicates prerequisite requirements, and provides targeted opportunities to enhance professional development.
This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
