Job summary

Alvernia University in Reading, PA, is seeking a Part-Time Pre-Professional Health Club Advisor to guide students pursuing pre-health careers and professional schools. The role requires maintaining office hours, advising on course selection, and preparing students for interviews and applications.

The advisor will develop benchmarks for each health track, coordinate internships, and help measure progress toward graduation and professional school admission, reporting to the Science Department

• Advising will consist of course selection, interview preparation, application reviews, and overall navigation of professional schools and careers.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a minimum of three office hours per week for appointments and schedule other times as needed, in addition to being available by email and phone.

• Develop a system with defined benchmarks for each area of interest (such as pre-medical, pre-dentistry, pre-veterinary, and others) to guide students through the application process.
• Establish a mechanism to measure individual progress towards graduation and professional school.
• Establish a network of locations for students to do internships/medical observation hours.
• Serve as a co-advisor for the Pre Health-Professions Club.
• Work with faculty to create and maintain a Health Professions Advisory Committee at Alvernia University.

Pre-Professional Health Club Advisor

The Pre-Professional Advisor is responsible for advising students who wish to enter a pre-health career and/or professional school. In addition, this position holds the responsibilities described below.
