Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety seeks a Pre-Engineered Technician to independently install, inspect, test, and repair pre-engineered fire suppression systems, including kitchen hood systems, extinguishers, and emergency lighting. Role emphasizes adherence to NFPA codes, manufacturer specs, and AHJ requirements.

Responsibilities include service, documentation, and customer communication, with travel to various job sites as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ years of experience installing, inspecting, testing, and repairing pre-engineered systems per NFPA and manufacturer specs.
• TN/GA fixed and portable systems licenses preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
• Ability to work independently and understand pre-engineered systems and relevant codes.

• Replace/charge agents, service cylinders/cartridges, and verify detection/actuation.
• Identify deficiencies and perform corrective actions; ensure AHJ compliance.

• Complete inspection reports, deficiency lists, and close-out documentation.
• Communicate system condition and recommendations to customers.
• Travel to job sites as required.

The Pre-Engineered Technician will independently perform installation, commissioning, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of pre-engineered fire suppression systems to include (kitchen systems, fire extinguishers and emergency lighting) This role ensures systems are installed and maintained in compliance with applicable codes, manufacturer requirements, and customer expectations while managing assigned work with minimal supervision.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, test, and repair pre-engineered systems per NFPA and manufacturer specifications. (Kitchen hood systems, fire extinguishers and emergency lighting).
• Replace/charge agents, service cylinders/cartridges, and verify detection and actuation.
• Identify deficiencies and perform corrective actions; ensure AHJ compliance.
• Read and apply manufacturer manuals and service bulletins.
• Complete accurate inspection reports, deficiency lists, and close-out documentation.
• Communicate system condition and recommendations to customers.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles.
• Maintain a clean and safe workspace; follow all safety procedures.
• Respond to emergency service calls.
• Use of hand tools and testing equipment.
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Education/Qualification

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years of experience Install, inspect, test, and repair pre-engineered systems per NFPA and manufacturer specifications. (Kitchen hood systems, fire extinguishers and emergency lighting).
• Fixed and Portable systems licenses for TN and GA is highly preferred.
• Must have a clean driving record and active driver’s license, if driving role.
• Strong understanding of pre-engineered systems, practices and applicable codes.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
• Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
• Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work for extended periods.
