Job summary

Potelco, Inc. in Sumner, WA is seeking a Pre-Construction Engineer to bridge design and cost estimating for substations, BESS yards, and utility PV projects. You will work with the Director of Pre-Construction, Proposal Manager, and Estimating team to reduce technical risk before bids.

Minimum 5–8 years in electrical design or related fields; degree in Electrical Engineering; PE is a plus. Role requires strong communication and cross-functional collaboration in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of electrical design or design‑assist experience on substation/utility projects.
• Experience supporting EPC pursuits, proposals, or front‑end engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; PE licensure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review design packages for substations, BESS yards, PV systems; identify gaps and constructability risks.
• Develop conceptual designs, one-line diagrams, and layouts to support proposals.
• Generate preliminary quantity takeoffs to aid cost development.
• Coordinate with interconnection, permitting, and client specs during proposals.
• Draft RFIs and assist responses during bid development.
• Assist with handoff to engineering and construction teams.
