Job summary

Cordant Health Solutions in Flagstaff, AZ is seeking a self-motivated Pre-Certifying Lab Technician to join our Lab Operations team. You will load samples, analyze initial results, and prepare documentation to align with chain of custody requirements.

This role includes maintaining LC/MS/MS platforms, training through four phases toward Certifying Scientist within 6–12 months, and working Monday–Friday with a $2 shift differential for evenings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science field is required.
  • Experience as a senior lab tech or analyst is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems software is preferred.
  • Data entry skills via a keyboard (alpha and numeric) are required.
  • Strong eye-hand coordination is required.
  • Ability to handle a high-volume environment while maintaining the highest level of quality is required.

Responsibilities

  • Load prepared samples onto confirmation equipment.
  • Initial review of confirmation data from LC/MS/MS instrumentation.
  • Ongoing training for final analytical review, certification and release of final result reports.
  • Provide feedback to maintenance team on assay integrity and performance.
  • Perform start-up and daily maintenance of LC/MS/MS equipment.
  • Perform minor troubleshooting of LC/MS/MS equipment as needed.
  • Assist with research and development efforts.
  • Apply knowledge and skills to produce quality work and meet turnaround time goals.
  • Meet minimum productivity requirements.
  • Direct efforts toward production areas that need assistance.
  • Assist with new technology.
  • Collaborate with coworkers, managers and other supervisors to solve work-related problems daily.
  • Follow schedules to meet production goals and maintain quality and productivity.

We are seeking a self‑motivated Pre‑Certifying Lab Technician to join our Lab Operations team in Flagstaff, AZ. In this role you would be responsible for loading samples, analyzing initial results of various drug testing analyses, following procedures for handling inconsistent or indeterminable results, and preparing documentation to align with chain of custody requirements.

This role also performs maintenance on platforms used for confirmatory results, including but not limited to preparation of solutions, troubleshooting, cleaning, and additional maintenance. The expectation is to progress, at a reasonable pace, in training through four additional phases with the eventual promotion to Certifying Scientist within 6–12 months.

Phases include:

  • Phase I: loading and initial review of analytical results.
  • Phase II: final analytical result review training and sign off of one or more batches.
  • Phase III: final analytical result review and training of 50% or more of all assay types.
  • Phase IV: final analytical results review, certification and releasing of all assays.

Shift: Monday‑Friday, Midnight – 8:30am

Shift Differential: Additional $2.00 per hour for hours worked between 6:00pm and 6:00am

Compensation:

  • Phase I: $22.00 per hour
  • Phase II: $24.00 per hour
  • Phase III: Salary $55,000
  • Phase IV: Sign off Salary $60,000
Primary Responsibilities
  • Loading prepared samples onto confirmation equipment
  • Initial review of confirmation data from Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometer (LC/MS/MS) instrumentation
  • Ongoing training for final analytical review, certification and release of final result reports
  • Provide feedback to maintenance team on assay integrity and performance
  • Perform start‑up and daily maintenance of LC/MS/MS equipment
  • Perform minor troubleshooting of LC/MS/MS equipment as needed
  • Assist with research and development efforts
  • Apply knowledge and skills to produce quality work and facilitate meeting turnaround time goals
  • Meet minimum productivity requirements
  • Direct efforts toward production areas that need assistance
  • Assist with new technology
  • Collaborate with co‑workers, managers and other supervisors to solve work‑related problems within or between departments; answer and resolve questions/issues daily
  • Follow work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals, respond to fluctuating workloads, and improve quality and productivity of laboratory operations
  • Comply with all policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and best practices for CLIA and CAP
  • Maintain all safeguards with respect to Protected Health Information (PHI)
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in a science field (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Pre‑med (Biomed), Forensics & Toxicology)
