Job summary

Cleveland Clinic seeks a Pre Analytics Processing Technician II at the Main Campus to ensure specimens are accurately processed and prepared for testing. You will accession specimens into the LIS, perform manual processing, QA activities, and maintain equipment, with evenings shift 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m.

Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED and one year of lab experience; a science-related Associate's degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and accession specimens into the LIS.
  • Prepare specimens for analysis.

  • Assume compliance with basic regulations (temperature monitoring).
  • Perform QA activities (pending log audit).
  • Retrieve, sort, track and deliver specimens and verify receipts in the lab.
  • Perform basic clerical functions (i.e., answering phones).

The Pre Analytics Processing Technician II plays a vital role in the laboratory by ensuring specimens are accurately processed and prepared for testing. In this role, you will manually accession and process laboratory specimens, perform daily quality assurance activities, maintain laboratory equipment, and complete routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
A caregiver in this position works evenings from 3:00 p.m. -- 11:30 p.m.
The caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Receive and accession specimens into the LIS (Lab Information System).
  • Prepare specimens for analysis.
  • Perform manual processing (centrifuge, aliquoting, and routine maintenance), problem-solving functions, and issue resolution.
  • Assume compliance with basic regulations (temperature monitoring).
  • Perform QA activities (pending log audit).
  • Retrieve, sort, track and deliver specimens and verify receipts in the lab.
  • Perform basic clerical functions (i.e., answering phones).
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of lab experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Associate's degree, preferably in a science-related field (this may substitute the one year of experience needed above)
Physical Requirements:
  • Manual dexterity to perform specimen handling techniques and to take measurements
  • May require extended periods of standing, walking and/or sitting.
  • Handles and transports bio hazardous materials.
  • Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors.
  • Must have normal or corrected vision.
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds.
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as defined in the exposure control plan.
Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $19.25
Maximum hourly: $29.30
