Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Main Campus in Cleveland, OH is seeking a Pre-Analytics Processing Technician II to join the Phlebotomy Transp Outpt-Main Campus Hospital team. This full-time, days position supports manual processing of laboratory specimens and quality assurance activities, with a 8:00am–4:30pm schedule.

You will access the LIS, prepare specimens, perform centrifugation and routine maintenance, ensure compliance with basic regulations, participate in QA activities, and assist with clerical

• High School Diploma or GED and one year of lab experience.
• Associate’s degree, preferably in a science related field.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Manual dexterity to perform specimen handling techniques.

Responsibilities

• Receive and accessions specimens into the LIS (Lab Information System).
• Prepare specimens for analysis.
• Perform manual processing (centrifuge, aliquoting, and routine maintenance), problem-solving functions, and issue resolution.
• Assume compliance with basic regulations (temperature monitoring).
• Perform QA activities (pending log audit).
• Retrieve, sort, track and deliver specimens and verify receipts in the lab.
• Perform basic clerical functions (i.e., answering phones).

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Strong organizational and time management skills

Physical Requirements:

• Manual dexterity to perform specimen handling techniques and to take measurements

• May require extended periods of standing, walking and/or sitting.

• Handles and transports bio hazardous materials.

• Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors.

• Must have normal or corrected vision.

• Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds.

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as defined in the exposure control plan.
