Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree (preferably in Science) required or a total of four years’ lab processing experience.
• Two years of lab experience required; four years of related processing experience may substitute for education.
• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Medical Laboratory Science preferred (may substitute two years of experience).

A caregiver in this position workspart-time| 11:00pm 7:30am| rotating weekends.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Perform advanced manual processing.
• Interpret and accession reference lab specimens.
• Collectand analyze data.
• Perform body fluid processing usingaseptictechnique.
• Conduct higher levelaccessioningin the Lab Information System (LIS).
• Perform extensive manual processing for esoteric testing and non-Cleveland Clinic reference laboratories.
• Perform all duties of the Laboratory Processing Technician II.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Associate’s Degree(preferably inScience)
• Two years of lab experience
• OR atotal of four years of experience as a Lab Technician or comparable processing experience may substitute the education requirement

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry,Physicsor Medical Laboratory Science (this may substitute two years of experience)

Physical Requirements:

• Manual dexterity to perform specimen handling techniques and to take measurements
• May require extended periods of standing, walking and/or sitting.
• Handles and transports bio hazardous materials.
• Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors.
• Must have normal or corrected vision.
• Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds.

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as defined in the exposure control plan.
