Job summary

Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice in Augusta, GA invites applications for a Practical Instructor 2 at Augusta YDC. This role trains clients in language, life skills, and workforce readiness as part of an organized program.

Under supervision, you adapt lessons, assess needs, and deliver classes, workshops, and demonstrations. A qualifying associate degree or equivalent experience is required, with HS diploma and relevant instructional experience also acceptable.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience as described above.
• High School diploma/GED with relevant instructional/childcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Adapts instructional methods and materials to meet clients' varying needs, abilities, and interests.
• Assess students' education and adjustment needs through direct observation and testing.
• Conducts classes, workshops, and demonstrations in language, life skills, and workforce entry topics.
• Plan and coordinate a comprehensive recreational program for facility population.
• Counsels and instructs clients in daily living and work routines.
• Estimate materials needed for inventory and specific areas, including cost.

Education

Associate degree in area of assignment from an accredited college or university. Or one (1) year of experience required at the lower-level Practical Instructor 1 (EDT010) or position equivalent.

High School diploma/GED and one (1) year of experience working in an instructional/childcare setting; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Instruction Paraprofessional 1 (EDS010) or position equivalent.
