Blue Cliff College is seeking a Nursing Instructor to perform a variety of routine duties, as needed, to provide students with the knowledge and skills required for competent entry-level performance using a variety of teaching methods such as lectures and demonstrations and using audiovisual and technological aids to supplement the presentations.
JOB DUTIES
- Performs performance-based objectives and outlines for course of study following curriculum guidelines and requirements of the college and the Department of Health and Hospitals
- Organizes a program of practical and technical instruction, including demonstrations of skills required in the Nurse Aide profession, and lectures on theory, techniques, and terminology
- Instructs students in subject areas such as use, maintenance and the safe operation of tools and equipment, codes or regulations related to the Nurse Aide Program
- Instructs students in the importance of accuracy, neatness, efficiency, resourcefulness, and good work habits in obtaining employment as a Nurse Aide
- Assigns lessons to students and corrects homework; administers tests to evaluate achievement of students in program knowledge and practical skills
- Keeps records of daily attendance and student progress; reports to Lead Instructor and Director of Education
- Presents subject matter to students, utilizing a variety of methods and techniques, such as lectures, discussions, or demonstrations; ensures use of classroom time is organized and that instruction and clean-up (if applicable) can be accomplished within the allotted time
- Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts; responds to basic student questions; may initiate study groups in preparation for examinations
- Enforces classroom protocols, rules, and regulations; maintains classroom discipline; utilizes effective classroom management techniques
- Attends meetings and training per requirements of Lead Instructor, Program Chair or Director of Education; participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and professional development workshops
- Conduct class evaluations and complete other college evaluations in accordance with college policy
- Make suggestions to the Program Chair/Lead concerning the improvement of the curriculum in keeping with the objectives of the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals
- Supervise eligible students at approved clinical site(s)
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of an ADN
- Current license in good standing with the LSBNE
- Minimum of three (3) years practical work experience RN
- Ability to multi-task and juggle competing priorities
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work effectively with students, peers, and community
- Ability to work with professional integrity and discretion
