Job summary

newcleo is seeking a Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) Engineer to develop and maintain Level 1 and 2 PRA models for the LFR-AS-200 advanced nuclear reactor in the United States. You will work with Nuclear Safety, Systems Engineering, Reactor Design, Operations, and Licensing teams to support risk-informed decisions and safety case development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical discipline (Nuclear/Mechanical/Electrical/Systems Engineering, Physics, Mathematics) or related field.
• 1–3 years of professional experience in nuclear PRA, reliability engineering, or safety analysis.
• Experience with PRA software such as RiskSpectrum, CAFTA, SAPHIRE or equivalents.
• Strong understanding of Level 1 PRA methodologies (FTA/ETA).
• Working knowledge of HRA, CCF, and reliability data analysis.
• Familiarity with Level 2 PRA concepts and NRC regulatory guidance.
• Excellent analytical, technical writing, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and quantify Level 1 and Level 2 PRA models for the LFR-AS-200 reactor.
• Perform FTA, ETA, HRA, and CCF analyses.
• Evaluate initiating events, accident sequences, and risk-significant SSCs.
• Conduct uncertainty, sensitivity, and importance measure analyses.
• Identify LBEs and licensing basis events per LMP methodology and NRC guidance.
• Support PRA integration with risk-informed design and licensing evaluations.
• Prepare PRA documentation and regulatory support deliverables.
• Participate in PRA peer reviews and model upgrades per ASME/ANS PRA standards.
• Present methods, assumptions, and results to project teams and regulators.
• Coordinate interfaces with design engineers, safety analysts, and licensing staff.
• Integrate PRA results with deterministic safety analyses and overall safety case.
