Applied Research Associates, Inc. in the Arlington/Falls Church area seeks two full-time Financial Analysts to support PPBE activities for the Office of the Undersecretary of War for Acquisition and Sustainment. You will help track budgets, maintain spend plans, and draft clear updates for leadership.

The role requires a U.S. citizen with a SECRET clearance and 2–4 years of relevant experience in federal budgeting and financial management. On-site work in VA is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• U.S. citizen.
• Minimum SECRET government clearance.
• 2–4 years of relevant experience in the financial field.
• Foundational DoW/PPBE knowledge: budget formulation, execution, spend plans.
• Familiarity with O&M, RDT&E, Procurement and period-of-availability rules.
• Strong detail-orientation and ability to write concise staff updates (BLUF).

Responsibilities

• Assist budget formulation and execution to meet benchmarks for the office.
• Maintain and update the Reconciliation Funding Spend Plan and track contracts.
• Monitor execution metrics and alert leadership to potential shortfalls.
• Draft variance reports and justifications when targets are not met.
• Reconcile financial records and verify commitments, obligations, and expenditures.
