Powertrain Engine OBD Calibration Engineer

Job Summary:

Our client in Chelsea, MI is seeking a Powertrain Engine OBD Calibration Engineer for a contract position.

What You Will Do:

As a Transmission On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) Calibration Engineer, you will develop diagnostic calibrations that meet regulatory, safety, quality, and service requirements. You will define, plan, and execute testing to validate diagnostic features, lead cross-functional teams to address diagnostic issues, and work with various transmissions, including electrified systems. You will utilize data acquisition software (INCA), gather functional requirements, and plan milestones for successful product launches. Travel of 2-4 weeks per year for system validation/verification is expected.

Basics:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Willingness to work in and out of test vehicles.
  • Proficiency with INCA, Matlab, and Simulink/Stateflow.
  • Understanding of On-Board Diagnostics goals.
  • Knowledge of transmission design and operation.
  • Basic understanding of electrified propulsion systems.
  • Excellent communication and business skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, with leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database applications.
  • Experience with vehicle/control system calibration.
  • Understanding of PID Control Systems, Gas Engine operation, and exhaust aftertreatment.
  • Position is 100% onsite.
  • Driver’s license and vehicle operation required.
  • Travel up to 20% within the USA.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Over 3 years of experience in OBD calibration, propulsion system calibration, or controls in relevant industries.
  • Experience with INCA, Matlab, Simulink, Stateflow, Minitab, C++, and Visual Basic.
