Powertrain Engine Calibration Engineer - Intermediate

Job Summary:

Our client in Chelsea, MI is seeking a Powertrain Engine Calibration Engineer at an intermediate level. This is a contract position.

What You Will Do:

As a D&E Drivability & Emissions Calibration Engineer, you will develop engine calibrations to optimize drivability, emissions, and fuel economy. You will manage calibration maturity and development across the entire lifecycle, including conceptual, strategy development, calibration, and validation phases, involving various propulsion system concepts and electrification levels. You will collaborate with calibration teams to meet emissions compliance and system objectives.

You will coordinate daily propulsion dyno and vehicle testing activities, working with technicians and support engineers. You will also develop test plans, timelines, and report on program status to stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in spark ignition engine controls and calibration.
• Knowledge of engine systems, including combustion, valvetrain, fuel, boost, EGR, aftertreatment, controls, and diagnostics.
• Experience with feature calibration, optimizing drivability, emissions, and fuel economy.
• Experience with US standards (ACC/ACCII) and international markets (Europe, APAC, LATAM).
• Data acquisition skills for data collection and analysis.
• Strong teamwork and independent work skills.
• Effective communication skills, with ability to present technical information clearly.
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and ETAS/INCA.
• Position is 100% onsite.
• Must be able to drive a vehicle.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%, mainly within the US.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• Five or more years of relevant experience.
• DFSS green belt certification or higher.
• Experience with problem-solving techniques like RedX, Six Sigma, 3L5W, Kaizen, 5S.
