Job description

Description:

The D&E Drivability & Emissions Calibration Engineer is responsible for developing optimal engine calibration to meet drivability, emissions, and fuel economy standards. The role involves calibration development across the entire lifecycle, including conceptual phases, strategy development, calibration execution, and validation at subsystem and vehicle levels. The engineer will work with various propulsion system concepts, including electrification, collaborating with calibration teams to achieve system-level objectives related to emissions compliance.

The engineer will plan and coordinate daily propulsion dyno and vehicle testing activities, working with technicians and support engineers. Test plans and timelines will be developed, executed, and reported to communicate program status to larger development teams.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • At least 3 years of experience in spark ignition engine controls and calibration
  • Knowledge of engine systems, including combustion, valvetrain, fuel, boost, EGR, aftertreatment, controls, and diagnostics
  • Experience in feature calibration focusing on drivability, emissions, and fuel economy
  • Experience with US standards (ACC/ACCII) and international markets (Europe, APAC, LATAM)
  • Data acquisition skills and data analysis
  • Strong teamwork and independent working skills
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink and ETAS/INCA

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Problem-solving techniques such as RedX, Six Sigma, 3L5W, Kaizen, 5S

Additional Must Haves:

  • Onsite work at Chelsea Proving Grounds
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive company vehicle
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%, mainly within the US
