Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking a D&R/Powertrain Development Engineer to lead new powertrain architectures from concept through release, coordinating with manufacturing, supply chain, and product development to optimize cost, weight, and performance.

The role emphasizes managing lifecycle from concept to production, ensuring alignment with vehicle targets and program gates, and driving advanced propulsion innovations for BEV and Hybrid programs.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of transmission or power unit development experience.
• Master's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.
• Experience with powertrain manufacturing on early development.
• Strong communication and adaptability in a dynamic product landscape.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Launch new powertrain architectures through the unit approval process.
• Develop strategies for complexity vs carryover content.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, supply chain, product development).
• Provide cost/time estimates and manage program milestones.
• Support GPDS program gateways and design/sourcing/prototype activities.
• Maintain deliverables and cost tracking documentation.
