Job summary

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking an Engine Calibration Engineer to calibrate engine control systems to meet regulatory and customer requirements.

The role reports to the Senior Manager of Emission Calibration and supports the PCE1 department’s objective to calibrate world-class powertrains in America. Responsibilities include collaborating with calibration teams, conducting engine calibration per procedures, developing schedules, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in engine calibration.
• 3+ years of experience in tailpipe emissions and U.S. Federal and California regulations.
• Proficiency with engine control theory and emission homologation requirements.
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink and programming languages such as C/C++.
• Experience with data acquisition tools (INCA, Vehicle Spy).
• Willing to travel domestically and internationally; overtime up to 20%.
• Experience calibrating engine controls for international markets (e.g., Japan, Europe, China).
• Hands-on experience with vehicles through SAE or co-ops.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a diverse calibration team to execute engine control development activities.
• Conduct engine calibration to meet regulatory compliance and performance targets (emissions, fuel economy, OBD).
• Develop and manage calibration schedules and resources to meet deadlines.
• Collect and analyze data; prepare and present technical reports regularly.
• Review engine control logic from C-source code and specs to support calibration development.
