Job summary

RESA Power, LLC. seeks a Field Test Engineer to provide testing and commissioning services for electric utility customers in the Midwest. Travel across Northern IL, Eastern Wisconsin, and Michigan is required, with occasional interstate work.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and at least 3 years in utility commissioning and testing. Strong communication, safety, and knowledge of NETA/NEC/OSHA/NFPA are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or experience equivalency and a minimum of 3 years related experience.
  • Previous professional experience in electric utility commissioning and testing is preferred.
  • Proven skills in written and oral communication of technical topics.
  • Knowledge of various industry standards such as: NETA, NEC, OSHA and NFPA.
  • Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
  • Strong communication (written and oral).
  • Able to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
  • Able to work with various people throughout the organization – customer focused.
  • Focus on accuracy and efficiencies.
  • For positions that utilize a company vehicle, will be required to have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up and collect data of high voltage transmission and distribution electrical systems, controls, and protection relays.
  • Proficient in reading and accurately interpreting power system schematic and wiring diagrams.
  • Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
  • Solid theoretical understanding of electricity and a good aptitude for problem solving.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with customers and peers.
  • Dependable and responsible with good judgment and organizational skills.
  • Good customer service, time management and follow-up skills.
  • Work effectively with customers, peers and management to resolve client issues.
  • Work will require flexible hours, weekends and holidays along with the availability to work out of town as needed.
  • All work and decisions shall be conducted in strict compliance of all regulatory laws.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

Physical Demands

Lifting a minimum of 50 lbs on a daily basis, crawling, climbing, standing for long periods of time, and working in non-ideal conditions. Also responsible for completing computer work.
