Job summary

Mustang Cat is seeking an Engine Technical Communicator to provide expert technical support, troubleshoot complex issues, and enhance dealer technicians within the Power Systems Division.

You will collaborate with Caterpillar engineers via DSN, mentor service teams, and support sales and parts with technical knowledge. Strong knowledge of Caterpillar engines and power systems is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Diesel Technology or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Strong hands-on experience with Caterpillar engines & power systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist service teams across locations in diagnosing and resolving complex equipment issues.
• Provide expert guidance to Mustang Power Systems shop & field service teams.
• Collaborate with Caterpillar engineers via DSN to resolve critical issues.
• Conduct applied failure analysis and manage technical service requests.
• Work with district CAT Representatives to resolve warranty concerns.
• Develop cost-effective solutions for equipment performance issues.
• Mentor dealer technicians to enhance technical proficiency.
• Assist sales & parts teams with technical product knowledge.
• Work closely with Caterpillar to improve equipment performance and service processes.

Your Impact:

Technical Support & Troubleshooting

• Assist service teams across locations in diagnosing and resolving complex equipment issues
• Provide expert guidance to Mustang Power Systems shop & field service teams (Large Bore 290, Marine, EPG, Tomball, Waller)
• Collaborate with Caterpillar engineers via DSN to resolve critical issues

Failure Analysis & Problem Resolution

• Conduct applied failure analysis and manage technical service requests
• Work with district CAT Representatives to resolve warranty concerns
• Develop cost-effective solutions for equipment performance issues

Training & Collaboration

• Mentor dealer technicians to enhance technical proficiency
• Assist sales & parts teams with technical product knowledge
• Work closely with Caterpillar to improve equipment performance and service processes

What You Bring:

Education & Experience:

• Degree in Diesel Technology or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong hands‑on experience with Caterpillar engines & power systems

Technical Skills:

• Expertise in internal combustion engines (spark vs. compression ignition)
• Ability to read schematics, engineering drawings & machining specs
• Proficiency in precision measuring tools & dyno testing procedures
• Familiarity with CAT diagnostic & service systems

Soft Skills:

• Excellent communication & problem-solving abilities
