Job summary

ABB is seeking a Project Engineer with a background in Power Systems to join our team in Houston, TX. The role focuses on power system studies, substation and building integration, and protection/controls design within a hybrid work model.

You will contribute to design, analysis, and commissioning activities, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and customers. A FE-led path with PE licensure interest is encouraged, with travel up to about 25% to sites and customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 2+ years of electrical engineering experience on multidisciplinary projects.
• Experience in power system studies, substation design, or protection and control.
• Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination with interest in pursuing Professional Engineer licensure.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering projects, ensuring delivery within scope, schedule, and quality expectations.
• Develop, review, and approve electrical deliverables complying with codes and ABB practices.
• Attend customer technical meetings, design reviews, and coordination meetings.
• Manage engineering scope, risks, schedules, and change management with Project Management.
• Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and startup activities as required.
• Coordinate multi-discipline vendors and subcontractors to align with project objectives.
