Job summary

NextGenEnergyJobs in Austin, TX seeks a Software Engineer focused on electric grid modeling to develop and maintain NMMS-based tools. You will implement modeling algorithms in Java, C#, and Python, validate data submissions, and automate system modeling under ERCOT guidelines.

You will manage NMMS software infrastructure, collaborate with ERCOT teams, review data and standards changes, mentor engineers, and contribute to training programs for emerging developers.

Qualifications

• Experience with developing and maintaining software in C#, Java, or Python.
• Experience with at least one power system simulator or equivalent such as PowerWorld, PSS/E, or ASPEN One-liner.
• Experience with SQL.
• Experience with Git/Bitbucket and Jira.
• Strong communication skills.
• Able and comfortable with working independently, managing projects and stakeholder groups.

Responsibilities

• Network Model Development and NMMS operations.
• Develops operations models from the Network Model Management System.
• Collaborates on data exchange and model maintenance in NMMS.
• Reviews submitted data and helps correct invalid model data.
• Develops and maintains modeling software tools in Java, C#, Python.
• Validates data submissions using electrical engineering principles and automates modeling.
• Creates data validation rules in SQL for operations and planning models.
• Mentors members of the Engineering Development Program (EDP).
• Interfaces with ERCOT teams on modeling and protocol changes.
