Job summary

Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) seeks a Software Modeler/Engineer to advance transmission and generation modeling for the Texas grid. The role focuses on developing steady state and contingency models, maintaining modeling tools in Python and C#, and validating data for planning models.

You will collaborate with SSWG/SPWG groups, coordinate data submissions, and support modeling infrastructure while adhering to NERC and internal protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent education/experience.
• Experience with developing and maintaining software in Python, Java, or C#.
• Preferred: Power system simulators such as PSS/E, ASPEN One-liner.
• Experience with SQL, Git/Bitbucket and Jira.

Responsibilities

• Develops steady state and geomagnetic disturbance models with the SSWG using MOD and PSS/E.
• Coordinates model and contingency building processes for SSWG and SPWG; validates data submissions and resolves modeling issues.
• Maintains generation modeling tools in Python and C# and models generation sites in planning models.
• Develops and maintains modeling software tools in Java, C#, Python; validates data submissions using electrical engineering principles.
• Provides training and mentoring within the Engineering Development Program.
