Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering; EIT/PE licensure preferred.

Job description

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Power Systems / Medium-Voltage Engineering role based in Dallas, TX. The role involves designing, analyzing, and optimizing medium-voltage power distribution systems for commercial and industrial facilities. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, and protection and coordination studies; performing load flow, short-circuit, and arc-flash analyses; and preparing engineering calculations, reports, and drawings. The engineer will review vendor submittals, support procurement and construction teams, and provide technical guidance during installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment. The role also includes troubleshooting system issues, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards, and collaborating with project managers and clients to deliver projects on time and within scope.

Qualifications
  • Power systems analysis skills, including experience with load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, and arc-flash studies using industry-standard software tools.
  • Medium-voltage engineering skills, such as specification and selection of switchgear, transformers, protective relays, and associated balance-of-plant equipment.
  • Applied engineering design skills, including creating single-line diagrams, cable schedules, panel schedules, and detailed construction drawings in collaboration with CAD/BIM teams.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and standards, including NEC, IEEE, IEC, and utility interconnection requirements, with the ability to apply them in practical design solutions.
  • Project execution and documentation skills, including preparing technical reports, equipment datasheets, design narratives, and supporting project schedules and budgets.
  • Collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, coordinate with field personnel, and interact with clients and vendors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field; EIT or PE licensure (or progress toward licensure) is preferred.
  • Relevant experience in power systems or medium-voltage projects in industrial, commercial, or utility environments; familiarity with on-site construction and commissioning activities is beneficial.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety, quality, and continuous learning in a fast-paced project environment.
