Job summary

Electric Power Engineers is seeking a Power Systems Engineer to perform transmission-planning studies, including steady-state, dynamic stability, short-circuit analyses, and generator interconnection assessments. You will also address NERC compliance and VRT requirements for renewables and storage projects.

Ideal candidates have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering with power systems focus and 2+ years of experience, plus proficiency in PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, Aspen, TARA, and Python for automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with power systems focus.
• 2+ years of experience as a power systems engineer.
• Experience performing power system impact studies (dynamic stability, steady state, short circuit).
• Experience with PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, Aspen, and TARA software.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and interns.
• Strong reporting and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform power system impact studies: Steady State, Short Circuit, and Dynamic Stability.
• Conduct NERC-compliance analyses such as TPL Annual Planning Assessments.
• Perform full generator interconnection studies including SSR analyses.
• Ensure renewable/storage projects meet Voltage Ride-Through (VRT) requirements.
• Prepare technical study reports and manage data for studies.
• Take responsibility for timely completion of projects within quality and budget.
• Identify training needs and present to Engineering Manager.
