Placements24 in Welkom, South Africa is seeking a highly analytical Power Systems Engineer to join our client’s team for grid integration of renewable energy projects. You will conduct detailed studies and develop technical specifications to support seamless connection to the national grid.

You will work with grid operators, project developers, and equipment manufacturers to resolve technical issues, design protection schemes, and ensure compliance with grid codes.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• 6+ years of experience in power system analysis and grid integration studies.
• Proficiency with power system simulation software such as PSS/E, PowerWorld, ETAP, or PSCAD.
• Strong knowledge of grid codes and regulatory frameworks for renewable energy.

Responsibilities

• Perform power flow, short circuit, stability, and harmonic analysis for grid-connected renewable energy projects.
• Develop and review grid connection applications and technical requirements per utility standards.
• Collaborate with project developers, equipment manufacturers, and utility engineers to resolve grid interconnection issues.
• Design protection schemes and control systems for renewable energy power plants.
• Contribute to grid integration best practices and methodologies.
• Provide technical support and advisory on power system studies and grid code compliance.
