Job summary

The City of Austin is seeking a Power System Graduate Engineer to join the Power Production and Electrical Services Delivery department. You will assist in designing electric utility facilities including generation, substations, transmission lines, and SCADA/EMS systems.

Responsibilities include power system studies, safety procedures, and coordination with field personnel to energize projects. A bachelor’s in engineering is required; master’s can substitute for up to two years of experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with minimum related experience.
• Master's degree may substitute for up to two years of experience.
• Experience in Transmission Planning and PSSE preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare/assist in standards, equipment specifications, design procedures.
• Perform power system studies: protective coordination, fault studies, load flows, reliability, power quality, voltage stability.
• Prepare engineering designs and drawings for generation, transmission, distribution, substations, SCADA/EMS.
