Job Summary
Power Systems Engineer 2/3 to join our team at the Bacchus facility in Magna, Utah. Relocation assistance may be available.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a multi‑disciplined project team.
- Design comprehensive power systems, control systems, and ensure machine safety.
- Manage large complex projects with expertise in power, control, and electrical industrial automation.
- Design power and control systems for industrial process equipment used in manufacturing solid propulsion rocket motors, facilities, and equipment.
- Develop control philosophies and P&ID diagrams.
- Design electrical control systems using Allen‑Bradley PLCs and Schneider SmartX controllers.
- Have a working knowledge of PLCs used to control equipment, processes, machine tools, robotics, including Allen‑Bradley PLCs and Rockwell software.
- Design low‑ and medium‑voltage power distribution systems; specify equipment such as transformers, switchgear, MCCs, power distribution panels, high‑resistance grounds, UPS units, and backup generators.
- Develop electrical drawings: P&ID diagrams, one‑line diagrams, schematics, panel arrangements, bills of materials, device layouts, power distribution, control distribution, loop diagrams, panel schedules, conduit layouts, and grounding plans.
- Design, specify, and program servo drives and variable frequency drives (VFDs) for motor control applications.
- Design support systems: fire detection and reporting, camera & audio surveillance, lightning & grounding protection, and Ethernet & fiber communications.
- Oversee installation and startup of newly designed systems with internal and external contractors.
- Oversee an electrical project from conception to completion.
- Create drawing packages using AutoCAD.
- Provide detailed cost estimates for project design and implementation.
- Develop electrical maintenance guidelines for industrial equipment and assist maintenance craftsmen with troubleshooting.
- Supervise all aspects of projects, including mechanical, civil, and other crafts, while managing budget and schedule.
Basic Qualifications
- Level3: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and 5 years of industrial facility or mechanical design experience OR 3 years with a Master’s and industrial facility mechanical design experience.
- Experience designing low‑ and medium‑voltage power systems.
- Working knowledge of PLCs, including Allen‑Bradley and Rockwell software.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
- Experience in field environments, climbing ladders, working outdoors, and confined spaces.
Preferred Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering.
- Power system design experience.
- Industrial control design experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
- AutoCAD drafting ability.
- PLC systems and programming experience.
Salary
Primary Level: $98,400.00 – $147,600.00
Secondary Level: $122,800.00 – $184,200.00
