Job summary

Vertiv’s Component Engineer role focuses on identifying and integrating electrical and mechanical components for UPS and power distribution products used in data centers. The position involves drafting and revising drawings, managing ECOs in PLM, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals.

The role requires strong CAD skills (CREO/SolidEdge), knowledge of NEC and compliance processes, and the ability to source parts from suppliers while improving cost and reliability

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or interdisciplinary engineering.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical engineering background required.
  • Ability to read schematics and single-line diagrams.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software (CREO and/or SolidEdge).
  • Read and understand electrical/mechanical spec sheets.
  • Knowledge of 3-phase transformers, power conversion, NEC basics.
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with good planning and communication.
  • Experience with component selection and PLM systems preferred.
  • Experience with UPS, Static Switches and/or Power Distribution products is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Identify new electrical or mechanical components to meet system requirements.
  • Interface with suppliers to source parts, reduce costs and bolster supply chain.
  • Create/revise part specifications, assemblies, drawings, schematics, harnesses, etc.
  • Ensure components meet UL, CE, NEC requirements.
  • Work with compliance to add components to UL files if needed.
  • Release designs through Engineering Change Orders in the PLM database.
  • Identify potential VAVE opportunities.
  • Support Vertiv Services in implementing product changes to fix field issues.
