Job summary

ISO New England Inc. is offering a Power System Modeling Engineer Intern position within the Model Administration and Support group. You will gain hands-on experience updating power system models and supporting planning studies while working with generation and load data.

Ideal candidates are electrical engineering students with a power systems focus who enjoy problem solving and data work, and who have some exposure to PSS/E. This internship supports industry reliability and market operations.

Qualifications

  • Graduate student preferred, but rising seniors will be considered if requirements are met.
  • Enrollment in an electrical engineering program with a power systems concentration.
  • Experience with PSSE preferred.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a small team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with data handling and updates to the New England Network Model.
  • Help create planning study cases for transmission owners.
  • Update generation profiles by gathering data from multiple sources.
  • Review and maintain contingency project data, load profiles, and resource data.
  • Support the Model Administration and Support Team in testing and validating model changes.
