Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
Entry-level or Level 2 experience in electric utility industry.
Experience running power system load flow studies in PSSE.
Strong written and verbal communication of technical information.
Experience with programming or scripting (Python, VBA).

Responsibilities

Provide electrical engineering analysis and technical support for interconnection of new generation resources and future electric power system planning
Implement system modeling and develop tools and procedures for system studies
Analyze simulated or actual operating results and develop solutions to current or future system issues
Report findings and recommendations
Analyze simulated power system studies and compare results with actual operating data for compliance with applicable standards
Perform powerflow studies to assess proposed generation interconnections
Review interconnection applications for compliance with company Planning Guides, Protocols, and technical requirements
Identify process improvements for interconnection study workflows, data management, and stakeholder communication
Communicate requirements and results to internal and external interconnection stakeholders
Track project milestones from study request through commercial operation in alignment with interconnection queue procedures

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge
Entry level: less than one year of progressively responsible experience in the electric utility industry, in excess of degree requirements
Level 2: 2 years of progressively responsible experience in the electric utility industry
Some experience within the electric utility industry
Experience running power system load flow studies in PSSE
Experience running transfer analysis systems studies
Ability to clearly communicate requirements and technical information
Ability to write technical reports of in-depth analysis
Experience with Python, VBA, or another programming language
Experience creating queries in Access, Oracle, or SQL
Experience using TARA
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Must pass a background check and drug screening
