Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer with a strong background in electrical engineering and transmission planning to lead and coordinate complex projects for utility clients in the Charlotte area.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited BS in Engineering; PE registration required
  • Minimum 8 years of engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer registration
  • Willingness to travel 5–15%
  • Experience in Transmission Planning and power flow analysis
  • Experience with inter-utility organizations like SERC and NATF
  • Experience meeting NERC Standards and FERC requirements

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and recommend business process enhancements and develop relevant standards
  • Keep abreast of new developments, technologies, procedures, and equipment
  • Coordinate work activities through positive working relationships
  • Maintain accurate records and files
  • Support company goals and represent the company positively and professionally
  • Coach and mentor engineering and non-degreed engineering professionals
  • Visit field sites and/or plants as required by the business unit
Requirements
  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program; a Master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. engineering degree
  • Minimum of 8 years of engineering work experience
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (desired)
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering with a concentration in power systems (desired)
  • Proficiency in Siemens PSS/E and PowerGEM TARA
  • Ability to balance multiple projects with overlapping schedules
  • Experience in Transmission Planning
  • Experience in power flow analysis
  • Experience developing solutions for grid issues
  • Experience in inter-utility organizations such as SERC and NATF
  • Experience meeting NERC Standards and FERC requirements
  • Skills in engineering theories and principles
  • Skills in researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making recommendations, and presenting recommendations
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and creating PDFs
  • Knowledge of project management principles
  • Experience in the electric utility industry
  • Department-specific experience applicable to the hiring department
  • Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future
  • Willingness/ability to travel 5–15%
