Job summary

Tessera is seeking a Power Production Technician at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO. You will install, operate, maintain, and repair electrical power generation and distribution systems supporting mission-critical infrastructure, including airfield lighting and safety systems.

On-call standby within one hour is required, and a strong background in NEC/NFPA safety standards is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial, military, or industrial electrical systems and power production.
• Valid Colorado Journeyman Electrician License preferred or AFSC 3E052 certification.
• In-depth knowledge of power generation systems, switchgear, control panels, and emergency backup systems.
• Experience with aircraft arresting systems, cathodic protection, and lightning protection systems preferred.
• Familiarity with airfield lighting systems and DoD electrical infrastructure standards.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineered performance standards.

Responsibilities

• Install, operate, maintain, and repair electrical power generation systems and equipment.
• Plan and organize electrical maintenance using engineered performance standards.
• Coordinate outages, emergency repairs, and system upgrades with base users.
• Prepare cost estimates for service requests based on site assessments.
• Apply drawings and specifications to layout and perform electrical work.
• Monitor labor costs and compliance with agreements and plans.
• Maintain maintenance forms and documentation per USAFA protocols.
• Ensure NEC, NFPA, and USAF safety standards including lockout/tagout.
• Operate lift equipment and work in confined spaces or at heights.
