Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Thermal Performance Engineer in Lenexa, KS with remote work options in the US. The role involves modeling heat balances, supporting design and testing, and coordinating with vendors to ensure accurate performance evaluations.

Occasional travel to project sites is expected. Responsibilities include developing thermal performance curves, using Ebsilon/GateCycle/Thermoflex, and performing calculations for startup and emissions guarantees while collaborating across engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 2–10+ years’ experience in power plant performance analysis and modeling.
• Proficiency in thermodynamics, cycles, and fluid mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Develop heat balances for power plants to support proposals and design.
• Use plant thermal performance modeling tools to develop performance curves.
• Coordinate with equipment vendors for thermal sizing and performance evaluations.
• Assist with development of thermal performance test procedures and field testing.
• Calculate plant emission and startup-time guarantees.
• Perform fluid flow calculations including pressure drop and valve sizing.
