Job summary

Kiewit Power Engineering is seeking a mid-level pipe stress engineer to join our Lenexa, KS team. You will perform thermal analyses, select supports, and ensure piping systems meet safety and ASME standards for major power, industrial, and water projects.

You will collaborate with design, structural, and construction teams, maintain calculation packages, and support project schedules in a hybrid work environment based on experience.

Qualifications

• 2+ years power plant design experience with pipe stress emphasis.
• ABET-accredited mechanical engineering degree.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; PE license preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoPIPE or AutoPIPE+CAESAR II recommended.
• Strong written and verbal English communication; hybrid collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Perform thermal flexibility analyses for critical piping using AutoPIPE.
• Analyze sustained/thermal displacement, wind, seismic, relief, hydrotest loads.
• Ensure piping nozzle loads on equipment meet codes.
• Select pipe supports and prepare procurement specifications.
• Document calculations and organize analysis in project folders.
• Review drawings and P&IDs for alignment with analyses.
• Collaborate with structural, mechanical, and construction teams.
