Job summary

C&H Sugar’s Crockett Cogeneration Plant seeks an experienced operator to observe and monitor powerhouse equipment, perform rounds, and ensure safe operation of the turbine and auxiliary systems. The role requires teamwork in a unionized environment and consistent safety practices.

Five years of experience with steam turbines and power generation equipment are required, with the ability to work overtime, weekends, and rotating shifts. The hourly pay rate is $51.32, and strict PPE use is mandated.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work overtime, rotating shifts and weekends on a regular basis.
• Ability to perform tasks wearing required PPE such as protective clothing, safety glasses/goggles, steel-toed boots, etc.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a unionized environment.

Responsibilities

• Makes routine rounds of the facility to thoroughly inspect all machinery for potential malfunctions and/or failures.
• Maintains all logs and records as required to record complete operating conditions for the power station and reports any irregularities to the proper supervision.
• Will start-up and secure equipment under normal and emergency situations, from the DCS or the field.
• Will perform the necessary water chemistry tests as directed, to control the quality of condensate returned to the cogeneration plant.
• Will perform routine maintenance on facility equipment as directed, including cleaning of turbine generating condenser and changing of exciter brushes.
• Will make adjustments to equipment as required for maintaining safe and efficient operation of the Power Station.
• Will be required to work with limited supervision and will maintain the station in a neat orderly fashion.
• Performs other related work as assigned.
• Within certain assignments, will be required to direct the activities of other operators.
• Will maintain close contact and a spirit of cooperation with the staff at the Crockett Cogeneration Plant.
