Job summary

The Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) is seeking a full-time Stationary Engineer to operate and maintain boilers, steam systems, and power plant equipment at Rocky Hill. This role supports a 24/7 campus serving Connecticut Veterans, with 37.5 hours weekly and a 10-week rotating schedule.

You will troubleshoot issues, perform hands-on maintenance on pumps, valves, generators, and related systems, and ensure safe, efficient facility operations.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of steam boilers or of significant auxiliary boiler room or power plant equipment.
• Experience with steam boilers and related equipment.
• Experience treating water with chemicals in a boiler system.
• Experience with the maintenance of power plant equipment, including pumps, valves, regulators, and generators.
• Experience working with 150psi or higher steam pressure.
• Experience in a 24/7 operation environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor boilers and plant equipment for safe, reliable operation.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and adjust systems to prevent downtime.
• Maintain pumps, valves, generators, and related mechanical systems.
• Support 24/7 campus operations serving Connecticut Veterans.
• Lead a team; ensure safety and technical compliance.
