Job summary

NRG Energy seeks a qualified professional to monitor and improve the thermal performance of plant generating equipment. You will develop scopes, estimate manpower and materials, and coordinate activities to ensure safe, efficient operation.

The role emphasizes diagnosing equipment degradation, implementing performance programs, and supporting budget planning for O&M and capital projects. Strong collaboration across teams and adherence to safety policies are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and at least 8 years of related plant experience, or a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Thermodynamics, or Industrial Engineering; 5–8 years of relevant experience may substitute for degree.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Preferred: Engineering or technical degree inclusive of aeroderivative.
• BS in Engineering with three years or more of experience in Power, Refinery or Chemical facilities.
• 5 years of Planner/Scheduler experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor thermal performance of power generating equipment and identify improvements.
• Establish and communicate KPI for the performance monitoring program.
• Assist in assessing equipment degradation affecting thermal performance.
• Provide technical support and inspection expertise for safe operation.
• Assist in developing O&M and capital budgets for thermal systems.
• Develop strategic plans for equipment overhauls to optimize life and downtime.
• Implement performance monitoring software with process instrumentation.
• Coordinate with engineering resources to drive performance initiatives.
• Lead training to support customer understanding of monitoring programs.
