Job summary

Xcel Energy in Burnsville, MN is seeking an experienced Operator Repairman to operate CTs, HRSGs, steam turbines, and related plant systems. The role requires strong knowledge of plant equipment, electrical theory, and generator synchronization, with hands-on duties including startups and shutdowns.

You will monitor, inspect, and maintain boilers, turbines, condensers, generators, and water treatment systems, responding to emergencies and documenting work.

Qualifications

• Must have a Minnesota State First Class Grade A License by assignment.
• Must participate in training and retraining programs.
• Experience with plant operating procedures and pollution control equipment.
• Must be able to work in high and confined spaces and read electrical diagrams.
• Must pass periodic on-the-job assessments and evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, inspect, and maintain boilers, turbines, generators and plant auxiliary equipment and systems.
• Perform startups, shutdowns, tests and operating adjustments.
• Monitor equipment, document readings, and take corrective action for abnormal performance.
• Respond to plant emergencies and unit upsets and coordinate actions with management.
• Prepare work orders, log sheets, and records of parts used and work completed.
• Assist with training and development of procedures and practices.
