Job summary

Veolia Environnement SA in North America seeks an Operator I to support safe, reliable operation of a reciprocating engine-based power generation facility. You will monitor equipment, adjust parameters, and coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure high availability and compliance with safety and environmental requirements.

You will work closely with Shift Supervisors and I&E technicians, perform routine inspections, document conditions, and participate in commissioning and startup activities,

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Experience in industrial operations, manufacturing, utilities, oil and gas, or power generation is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Safely start, stop, operate, and monitor engine-generator packages and all associated equipment.
  • Monitor plant equipment through control systems and field inspections.
  • Adjust operating parameters and setpoints within OEM and plant guidelines to optimize performance.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections and document operating conditions and abnormalities.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and report malfunctions to the Shift Supervisor.
  • Assist with startups, shutdowns, commissioning activities, and planned maintenance outages.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance and I&E personnel to safely isolate equipment and return systems to service.
  • Complete operating logs, shift reports, and other required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Participate in training programs to understand plant systems and capabilities.
  • Follow safety policies and permit-to-work procedures, LO TO, confined space, and other safe practices.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards to promote a safe work environment.
  • Respond to alarms, emergencies, and abnormal conditions as required.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, reliability, and efficiency.
