Essential Responsibilities
  • Operate all boilers and auxiliary equipment in the power plant.
  • Support determination of boiler load and load distribution.
  • Report operating conditions and operate under the direction of the Power Plant Engineer.
  • Maintain boiler pressure, steam temperature, water levels, and auxiliary power plant equipment.
  • Monitor alarm panel and respond to alarms or notify appropriate personnel.
  • Conduct water tests for sulfate, alkalinity, phosphate, solids, and oxygen and record results.
  • Maintain proper water treatment and report unsafe conditions.
  • Comply with state regulations and maintain required logs and records.
  • Keep assigned areas clean and use proper PPE.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Work Schedule

Rotating shift, 4‑10 hour days with additional weekly overtime available. Sign‑on bonus opportunity.

Qualifications / Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Commonwealth of Massachusetts 2nd Class Firemen’s license.
  • Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts.
  • Willingness to work in an area with elevated heat and noise.
  • Ability to lift, move, and manipulate fixtures up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work in confined areas, off ladders, platforms, and heights.
Desired Characteristics
  • Experience as an operating engineer.
  • Experience with oil and gas fired high‑pressure boilers, water softeners, air compressors, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Computer and keyboarding proficiency.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety rules.
  • Problem‑troubleshooting skills.
Compensation

Base pay is $23.50 per hour with potential annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of base salary.

Eligibility

Must be at least 18 years of age, wear proper PPE, and be legally authorized to work in the United States.
