Job description

Join GE Aerospace as a Power Plant Operator at our Lynn Facility and contribute to the design, production, and testing of military and commercial aircraft engines and components.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Operate all boilers and boiler auxiliaries in the power plant, supporting all equipment necessary for facility operations.
  • Organize and determine boiler load and load distribution.
  • Report operating conditions and operate under the direction of the Power Plant Engineer.
  • Maintain proper operating conditions including boiler pressure, steam temperature, water levels, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Take required action in emergencies, report unsafe conditions, and keep the area clean.
  • Monitor the alarm panel and respond to alarms or notify appropriate personnel.
  • Perform water tests to determine sulfate, alkalinity, phosphate, solids, and oxygen levels.
  • Record and correct data to control water condition.
  • Maintain proper water treatment and related duties.
  • Report unusual or unsafe conditions and take action when needed.
  • Comply with all state regulations for boiler/turbine operation and maintain required records and logs.
  • Maintain company records and logs for all phases of power plant operation and maintenance requests.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all power plant systems including steam, water, condensate, surge tank, compressed air, and other relevant lines.
  • Wear proper PPE, keep assigned areas clean, and communicate with other operators and engineers.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Schedule: Rotating shift, 4–10 hour days with additional weekly overtime available. Sign‑on bonus opportunity.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education (GED). Commonwealth of Massachusetts Third Class Engineer’s License eligibility.
  • Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts.
  • Willingness to operate in areas with elevated heat and noise.
  • Ability to lift, move and manipulate fixtures and component hardware up to 40lbs. (with or without reasonable accommodations).
  • Ability to work in confined areas, off ladders, platforms, and heights.
  • Power Plant Operators must wear proper PPE for all work performed.
Desired Characteristics
  • Experience as an operating engineer.
  • Experience operating oil and gas fired high‑pressure boilers, water softeners, air compressors, and related auxiliary equipment.
  • Proficiency with computers, applications, and keyboarding.
  • Knowledge of safety rules in an industrial setting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems.
Compensation and Benefits

Pay: $40 per hour. Eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of base salary.
