Job summary

Calpine Corporation in San Diego seeks a maintenance/operator assistant to help operate plant equipment, start and stop pumps and auxiliary systems, check lubrication and cooling, and record operational data to support safe, efficient unit performance.

You will diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical equipment, calibrate instrumentation, assist in controlling systems, maintain logs, coordinate with turbine/generator operations, and help ensure compliance with local, state and federal

Qualifications

Requires a High School Diploma or degree from technical/vocational school or equivalent.
0–4 years of related experience.
Experience with test equipment and calibration appliances is preferred.
Experience with machinery repair and control systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assists in the operation of plant equipment, starts and stops pumps and auxiliary equipment, checks lubrication and cooling.
Takes and records plant operational data and inspects equipment for faults.
Performs routine troubleshooting, calibrates and repairs electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
Maintains logs and assists in turbine/generator operations and switching procedures.
Ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulations and maintains a safe work environment.
