Job summary

Calpine in Texas is seeking a hands-on plant operator/maintenance assistant to help run and service our generating equipment. You will start and stop pumps and auxiliary machinery, check lubrication and cooling, take and record operating data, inspect for faults, and assist with routine maintenance to keep units running safely and efficiently.

The role requires a high school diploma or technical school equivalency, zero to four years of related experience, and ideally experience with test

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma, degree from technical/vocational school or equivalent.
• Requires zero to four years of related experience.
• Prefer some previous experience using test equipment and calibration appliances. Additional experience with machinery repair and control systems preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and basic understanding of chemistry, physics, electricity and mathematics.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor plant equipment and pumps.
• Take and record operating data and maintain logs.
• Troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Assist in turbine/generator operations and switchyard tasks.
