Job summary

Calpine, a leader in electricity generation from natural gas and geothermal resources, is seeking a plant operation support role. You will assist in running pumps, motors, fans, and turbines, while recording data and ensuring proper lubrication, cooling and safe operation.

The role involves troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems, calibrating controls, and contributing to efficient unit performance.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma, degree from technical/vocational school or equivalent.
• Zero to four years of related experience preferred.
• Some experience with test equipment, calibration and plant machinery is a plus.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and basic understanding of science and math.

Responsibilities

• Assist in operation of plant equipment, start/stop pumps and auxiliary systems.
• Record and monitor plant operational data and maintain logs.
• Inspect equipment for proper operation and perform maintenance tasks.
• Troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation and control systems to optimize unit performance.
• Assist in turbine/generator operation, switchyard tasks and ensuring safety procedures.
