Job summary

The Missouri Department of Corrections is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to repair and maintain boilers and related equipment in a state facility. The job includes reading sketches/diagrams, replacing seals, testing water treatment, and repairing electrical components.

Minimum qualifications require 18+ years old with four+ years of on-the-job training in a trade or completion of a relevant program or certification. Employees enjoy extensive benefits and paid leave.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains boilers and related equipment such as feed water pumps/circulating pumps/valves and regulators/steam and water lines.
• Repairs/replaces steam and water lines, unions, regulators, strainers, steam traps, and related equipment; replaces seals and gaskets in a variety of power plant equipment.
• Tests and monitors the water treatment system of boilers.
• Maintains/repairs electrical and/or electronic components such as replacing parts in control panels, repairing broken wires and related work.
• Reads sketches and diagrams in performing maintenance and repair work.

The annual salary listed for this position includes the additional $1.50 per hour maximum security differential ($3,120 annually) for all full-time positions domiciled in a maximum-security institution.

Contingent upon your position, you may also be eligible to receive:

• A $2.00 per hour shift differential if you are assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00 pm (noon) and 5:00 am and are employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or the command center).
• A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing differential if you are assigned a regular post within a restrictive housing/segregation unit at any facility.

The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years! If you are transferring from another State of Missouri agency and are receiving state retention pay, please be advised that the Missouri Department of Corrections administers retention based upon your retention anniversary date. As a result, your retention pay upon transfer may differ from what you were receiving at your previous agency until you reach your applicable retention anniversary date.
