Job summary

Atlantic Power & Utilities is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support daily operations at our facility in Harleyville, SC. The role involves a Monday–Friday schedule with occasional overtime to ensure reliable plant operation.

You will write technical reports, utilize CMMS (HSI) for planning, and troubleshoot equipment while coordinating with Plant Management during shutdown events. A strong safety focus and ability to read drawings are essential.

Qualifications

• High School graduation or better.
• Ability to read and understand instructions and procedures in English.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Work a Monday to Friday shift with occasional overtime and irregular hours to support reliable operation.
• Write technical reports as required or directed.
• Utilize CMMS (HSI) to plan work, request parts and locate spare parts.
• Troubleshoot equipment and make recommendations to Management.
• Assist Plant Management during shutdown events and coordinate facility work force.
• Maintain site safety programs such as LOTO, confined space entry, JSA’s, hot work, etc.
• Ensure proper PPE and safety equipment are used by the team.
• Interpret engineering, machine and component drawings and symbols.
• Refer to manufacturer’s manuals and reports for guidance.
• Plan and apply correct fasteners and materials.
• Operate hand and power tools and machines including welders and cut-off tools.
• Use precision tooling and alignment instruments for maintenance.
• Conduct lubrication programs and scheduling.
• Plan, rig and execute heavy lifts.
• Maintain transmission systems and drive components.
• Maintain compressors, pumps and gearboxes.
• Remove, install and align turbines, gearboxes and motors.
• Set up welding and fabrication tasks as needed.
• Install and maintain bearings, seals, and packing.
• Troubleshoot conveyors, fans, blowers and fluid power systems.
