Gainesville Regional Utilities is seeking a safety-focused Heavy Equipment Operator to support power generation operations. This role operates specialized heavy equipment, assists in material handling, and performs basic maintenance in an industrial environment.

The ideal candidate has heavy equipment experience, strong safety awareness, and is willing to learn and be coached. Candidates should be comfortable working at heights and be flexible to off-hours, weekends, or rotating shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of Progression-Through-Training Program for Power Plant Heavy Equipment Operator, or equivalent.
• Valid Florida Class E Driver's License required.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment operations and safety regulations.

Responsabilités

• Operate heavy equipment (dozers, loaders, vacuum truck, railcar mover, mowers, lifts) to move and process materials.
• Perform preventive maintenance and basic repairs on equipment; maintain records.
• Assist in underground excavations and piping repairs; stage portable pumps to maintain pond levels.
• Operate coal/wood handling equipment and conveyors; manage bulk materials and by-products.
• Maintain safety as a core value and address hazards promptly.
• May work off-hours, weekends, or rotating shifts as needed.
