Job summary

The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) invites engineering students to join as a summer power plant engineering intern in the Austin, TX area for 2027. This role targets juniors or rising seniors with Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering backgrounds and offers an area housing relocation stipend.

Interns will tackle progressively responsible engineering tasks under supervision, contribute to plant systems projects, assist with tests and diagnostics, and document findings with reports

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a junior or rising senior in an accredited university/college program.
• Background in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering preferred and relevant coursework.

Responsibilities

• Perform progressively responsible engineering assignments under the limited supervision of a licensed professional engineer.
• Contribute to projects involving adaptations and modifications to power plant systems, equipment, materials and procedures.
• Contribute to tests, diagnosis and evaluation of equipment performance for power plants.
• Prepare reports, operating instructions and project outlines, and apply project management techniques.
